An Important Day for Zane Carney:

Hello! Zane here :-)

OK, for those of you that HAVEN'T been in the loop, here is a quick synopsis of what I've been up to:

In 2006 my band CARNEY was signed to Interscope Records. I play lead guitar in the band and have poured my heart and soul into everything we do together - to put it lightly, it has consumed my life :-). Over the past 4 years we have toured with Jonny Lang, The Black Crowes, Gov't Mule, Fergie, The Veronicas, Live, played at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza and Byron Bay Blues Fest in Australia, and sold out headlining shows in LA moving our way up from Molly Malones to the Troubadour, and now to The El Rey. But, all of this was done without having any album to support as the many circumstances surrounding us made it impossible to release a full-length studio record until today.

And without further adieu, I would like to announce the release of my band's very first album - "Mr. Green Volume 1". It's been a long time coming and there are still years and years of work ahead, but I wanted to take this moment to share my music with you.

It features 8 songs for $8 (9 songs if you buy it on iTunes ...) and Volume 2 is already in the pipeline to be released later this year. We're so excited to finally have recordings to share with the world and we hope you get a chance to take a listen to what we've been brewing up :-)

Zane's Bio

Zane Carney, 24, has been playing the guitar for 14 years and performing live since he was in his mid teens. While studying guitar at Hamilton High School Academy of Music he spent three summers learning jazz from the National Guitar Workshop where he fell in love with the instrument. After High School he studied studio/jazz guitar at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. While studying at college Zane began playing around LA and soon found consistent work as a session and touring guitarist. He has toured with Jesse McCartney, Renee Olstead, Armand Sabal-Lecco (Paul Simon, Stanley Clarke) and has been fortunate enough to share the stage with artists such as Stevie Wonder, David Foster, India Arie, Armand Sabal-Lecco, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Roy Hargrove, Adam Levy, John Hamilton, John Clayton, Jonny Lang and Warren Haynes. Zane has also recorded with more than a few artists but most recently with Matt Morris, an artist on Tenmann Records who was produced by Justin Timberlake. In between his time spent touring and recording Zane has also found time to play in the House Band on Last Call with Carson Daly, a band led by Joe Firstman featuring a rotating cast of LA’s finest young musicians. Perhaps the most exciting development for Zane though is CARNEY, a band he shares with his brother and lead singer Reeve Carney. On November 17th, Interscope Records will release their debut studio album "Mr. Green," an album that prominently features Zane's musicianship and virtuosity as a lead guitarist and showcases his love for improvisation. Over the past 2 years CARNEY has opened for Fergie, The Black Crowes, Gov't Mule, The Veronicas, Live, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Shooter Jennings, and Jackie Greene, winning over each audience with their versatility and integrity. They have also played at some of the most prestigious festivals in the world including Bonaroo, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, 10,000 Lakes, and The Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia. As a guitarist, Zane is sought after for his unique combination of jazz sensibility and rock and roll abandonment. And it makes sense considering that when growing up he spent equal times listening to Aerosmith, Queen and The Beatles as he spent transcribing Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis and Bill Evans. But, it is his deep knowledge of jazz and classical theory mixed with his almost careless lack of inhibition that seem to most directly influence this unusual amalgamation of musical taste. Zane endorses Hofner Jazz Guitars and can be heard playing a Hofner New President on "Amelie," from CARNEY's debut studio album.
